I thought these would be more consistent than I am finding. Is this common to have to play around with these settings depending on where the repeater is and its settings? The repeater settings showing in the repeater search on don't explain much more than the frequencies and the tone code. I was told to use TSQL and no ToneSql and leave the Cross Mode blank. I finally got it to work by setting the Tone Mote to "Cross" and having a Tone of 141.3 and a ToneSql of 141.3 and then the Cross Mode set to Tone->Tone and it works. But it's not how I was instructed to do so. I have an Open Repeater near me so I finally got it to work today.

I'm a big confused fairly new with these GMRS radios and CHIRP. The import window will automatically disable any channels that are not compatible with the destination template.I have some similar questions to this. The other settings must be handled separately. Remember, this only transfers the data related to the channels (the spreadsheet memory editor). And going from the BF-F8HP to the UV-5R (or UV-82), HIGH and MID will be translated to HIGH. HIGH power will import as MID power in the BF-F8HP (the closest matching power level). LOW power of the UV-5R will be LOW power in the BF-F8HP. CHIRP even understands the power level mapping. The same can be done to transfer between the UV-5R (or UV-82) and the BF-F8HP.
